The Wheaton Arts and Entertainment District: Community Access Program

Wheaton Community Access Program

The Wheaton Community Access Program (WCAP) is providing $75,000 in "in-kind" assistance to groups seeking to organize community events at Wheaton facilities managed by the Office of Community Use of Public Facilities. The program seeks to foster equity by empowering groups that may encounter financial constraints, granting them the means to afford the permitting of these facilities.

By launching the WCAP, Montgomery County demonstrates its commitment to fostering community engagement, inclusivity, and equal access to public spaces. This initiative aligns with the county's dedication to supporting local organizations, and residents by ensuring financial barriers do not hinder community-driven events here in the Wheaton Urban District.

For further information on the Wheaton Community Access Program, contact Marta Martinez at CUPF by calling 240-777-2709 or via email, Marta.Martinez@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Wheaton Arts and Entertainment District

The Wheaton Arts and Entertainment District, designated by the State of Maryland in 2005, is one many A&E Districts in Maryland. As part of the designation's benefits, artists working in the districts can receive an income tax credit. Developers who create spaces for artists to live and work can apply for qualified property tax exemptions for up to 10 years. For more information, go to Maryland Arts & Entertainment Districts.
