CUPF Director's Report: May 2024
This month, CUPF officially released its Volume 1 2024 Annual Report. This was released digitally on the Community Bridge Blogger page, on the CUPF website under the "Resources" drop-down link, with hard copies distributed to some libraries, regional service centers through Montgomery County, County Executive Office, and Offices of County Council.
Over the past two years, permit numbers have been improving each month with permits getting closer and closer to the pre-Pandemic numbers. In return, CUPF revenues are also improving, allowing for the build-up of the enterprise fund which sustains CUPF in times of slow or no permitting as happened during the pandemic.
CUPF will create a new position in the Silver Spring Civic Building which was recommended by the Executive and appropriated by Council when the County Executive's budget was approved. Creation of this position will provide more support for staff in the Silver Spring location. The Civic Building and Veterans Plaza have increased programming and permitting tremendously over the past two years. Adding new staff allow Management to assign more staff to handle the facility and thus provide more permitting time and space for our community.
As this school year winds down, we look forward to Thursday, August 15, 2024, which is the next upcoming open season that will allow the community to permit school space for the anticipated 2024-2025 school year. As usual, those spaces will be available to the community on a first come first served basis.
Thank you to the community for continuing to do business with CUPF. We appreciate you and hope to continue providing you with the best service possible to facilitate hosting your community events. Thank you also to our continuing MCPS partner. They graciously welcome CUPF and the community into their schools and on to their property. CUPF pledges to continue protecting and respecting those properties.
