Previously, only half-court play was available at this location; however, effective immediately, the full court (elementary school size) is available for use by County residents and organizations.
Reservation requests may be submitted online via www.ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. A valid
login for ActiveMONTGOMERY is required. If you do not have an account, you may
create one online when visiting the site.

Monday through Friday
6:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday 9:00 am-11:00 pm. The gym will not be available the first
Wednesday of each month or on days
Commission Board meetings occur.
Fees
Fees for this facility align with
those of other MCPS public school gymnasiums based upon County residency,
for-profit, non-profit, weekday, weekend, etc. Applicable fees will show when
requesting reservations online at www.ActiveMONTGOMERY.org
in accordance with your account information.
Type of Use Allowed
Similar to the majority
of MCPS elementary school gymnasiums, the following equipment and restrictions
are in place:
This gym only has
equipment available for basketball use—there are no nets for badminton, volleyball,
etc.
Indoor football, soccer,
lacrosse, hockey, cricket, softball, baseball, and other activities typically
played outside are prohibited, with the following exceptions in the
gymnasiums: a) all participants are 10 years old or younger; b) activities are limited exclusively to drills and
conditioning; no scrimmaging or open play; c) all equipment placed on the floor
is padded to prevent scratching or similar damage; d) all balls are soft (ex.
“nerf”) and not inflatable.
Conditions of Use
All community organizations and
individuals are subject to all of the following:
- Groups may only enter and use the gymnasium facility during exact times shown on permit issued by Montgomery County Government Office of Community Use of Public Facilities.
- Permit holder must be onsite.
- Permit must be in permit holder's possession onsite during permitted use dates and times.
- No food or drink permitted.
- No rollerblades or skates in any part of the building.
- No hanging or swinging on basketball hoops.
- Hoops/Nets/Standards should be left as found.
- Wear gym shoes, no black soled shoes are permitted that would leave marks on floor.
- Chairs should not be brought into the gym.
- Use trash containers for any garbage.
- Smoking, possession, or consumption of intoxicating substances on the premises is prohibited.
- User group MUST provide supervision before, during and after the activity. Activity leaders must be present as long as children remain in the building.
- Children must be accompanied by a non-participating adult. Children are NOT allowed in the gym until activity supervisor is present.
- Lights are to be turned off when finished with activity.
- All doors are to be properly locked upon leaving the building.
- Gym doors are never to be left open or propped for any reason.
- Report any broken equipment or property damage to HOC personnel at 240.627.9540 or via email at kensingtongym@hocmc.org.
- In the event that the gym is not left in the order in which it was turned over to the organization, a cleaning fee of $100 will be charged to the responsible organization for each offense. If the gym key is lost, then a $100 fee will be charged to the responsible organization for each offense. Any group using HOC facilities shall be responsible for all damages to the Gym facilities, normal wear and tear excepted. Failure to make prompt settlement with the HOC shall result in the forfeiture of future privileges to use the facilities.
- Cancelation and adjustment requests must be given in writing at least 10 business days in advance. An administrative fee will be charged for each request. Check our Facility Fees and Cancellation policies for additional information.
- No refund of facility fees will be issued without adequate notice per the cancellation policy. Otherwise, all facility fees will be retained. No refunds or credit for permits that are not cancelled in a timely manner even if the space is not used.
- Each approved permit represents a financial obligation.
- Any violation to the above Conditions of Use and or the Facility Use License Agreement, including damage to the facility, will result in all applicable fines and penalties which may include loss of future permitting and use privileges of public facilities.
Public facilities may only be used by permit holders and at their own risk. All permit holders must ensure that they, their organization and or all participants of all activities held under any permit issued by the Montgomery County, Maryland, Office of Community Use of Public Facilities during the COVID-19 Pandemic MUST comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations s well as follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and any guidelines that may be issued or posted by the facility at all times without exception during any permitted use of a public facility.
