CUPF in the Community

CUPF is deeply rooted in the community by making landmark County facilities like the Executive Office Building, the Council Office Building, the Silver Spring Civic Building, accessible to all residents regardless of their affiliations or socioeconomic status. For forty years and counting this has been our motto under the auspices of the ICB (Interagency Coordinating Board) which provides policy and fiscal guidelines to CUPF.

Amazingly, our Agency’s history is intertwined with the many historical religious, cultural, and sports oriented user groups, in that they have played a crucial role in making the case for more accessibility to the County’s 17000 facilities which includes the hundreds of ballfields that are permitted for community use. Our County’s ballfields provide excellent opportunities for families and friends alike to come together for play, to enjoy the outdoors, and to stay active. Like all the other facilities CUPF permits, athletic fields that are established under Montgomery Parks, the Department of Recreation, and MCPS, are opened to all that can show their true appreciation for these facilities by adhering to the Facility Use License Agreement. Obviously, a good way to show one’s appreciation for the fields, is for groups to be sure that they follow the rules of the parks and fields and respect the environment by properly disposing waste items in the containers provided. Each Group has the responsibility to clean after themselves and to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all to enjoy.

We are very excited and grateful for the tremendous work done by Montgomery Parks staff during the resting months of Winter, to allow for seasonal field and grounds maintenance, so that community users and general residents can come back to play and enjoy the beauty of our parks and fields.
